Stringing Material |
Lets take a look at the materials used for strininging the beads
Natural Materials:
- Leather, Suede & Waxed Cotton are meant best for
beads with larger holes. Either a coil crimp or a fold over crimp is
required by them to attach the clasp.
- Waxed Linen & Hemp are used beads with smaller
holes. They are attainable in an a wide array of weights and colors.
The best part about these strings are their elastic capacity. Hemp
material may have coil crimps to add the clasp. While a clam shell
bead might have a waxed linen into its tip.
- Silk is best applicable when knotting between beads, specifically with pearls.
- Satin, Genya (vegetarian leather) are considered good
for larger holes beads. Again, either a coil crimp or a fold over
crimp is suitable for the attaching of the clasp. Because of its
waterproof quality, Genya is best recommended for all season
jewelry.
- Nylon (Conso, Power Pro) are wonderful for lightweight
beads having smaller holes. They don't stretch which acts as a plus
point with nylon strings. Like any thin stringing material, nylons
as well is best used when doubled for increased strength.
- Flexible Beading Wire (Soft Flex, Soft Touch, Beadalon)
is a nylon coated multi-stranded steel cable. This does not knot.
Available in different colors, wide range of diameters, quantity of
strands, these are used with crimp beads to attach a particular
clasp.
- Elastic (Stretch Magics, Opelon) are commonly available in varied size and color. Lightweight beads with somewhat large holes make use of these strings. Apart from this, kids bracelets equally require the material without even having to use a clasp.
