Tanzanite Beads |
Tanzanite was discovered in East Africa which looked like a velvety blue variety of the mineral zoisite. But it was renamed as Tanzanite. Tanzanite has mesmerizing color, i.e. it is trichroic, meaning it shows different colors when viewed in different directions appearing alternately sapphire blue, violet, and sage-green depending on crystal orientation.
The gemstone has a stark resemblance with sapphire and iolite. Though, it is less lustrous and hard than sapphire, and has a lower density and refractiveness than iolite. Blue tanzanite's demand is more compared to the purple one. Back in India, tanzanite beads cuttings are irregular in shape, size or other qualities. Since, it is highly vulnerable to knocks & blows, it isn't durable.
Color
Tanzanite beads are found in vibrant colors. The color of Tanzanite is most intense in sizes above ten carats. Smaller tanzanites are usually paler in color. Tanzanite's rich purples and blues often have a depth comparable to the finest sapphire :
